Getting Started
Before creating a new page decide what information you want to provide and how you want to organize it. Is this a simple guide with one page or will you be using multiple tabs (pages)? Is this your first guide? For an introduction watch this brief video. Each Guide is made of tabs/pages and each tab/page has multiple columns with boxes. The creator of each Guide can control layout, content, and who can edit pages.
Create Guide
From the Admin Sign In page you can click on Create New Guide to get started.
When
you first Create the New Guide, you can either start fresh or choose an
existing Guide to use as a template. The template, Storage Guides: Template for Faculty, has been created to assist faculty in getting started with a new Guide. The template will prefil the style and data
from the template into the new Guide but will give you the ability to edit the pages as well as change names for the guide, tabs/pages, and boxes.
Content is added in boxes. You can add a box
in the main section or in the left Side Column. To switch between 2- and
3-columns, put your mouse over Page Options at the top of the page and
select "Toggle Columns." Side column boxes will be placed at the top if
you change from 3 to 2 columns.
Add content by clicking "Add new
Box" or "Add new Side box." Select the type of content you want to put
in the box and give it a title. Then you can "edit text" to put your
content in. If you're adding a video clip or web links or other
multimedia, make sure you click the"Embed a Video Clip" or "Add a new
Info Link" links to actually add that kind of content. The "add text"
link will just add text at the top of the box, which is useful for
descriptions if you need them.
Tip on Tabs/Pages
In LibGuides each tab is known as a page. When creating new tabs
(pages) you will need to decide if you want the tab as an addition to
the current page (Add as a New Page) or under a specific page (Add Under [page name])
